Say-What-You-See puzzles are also known as pictograms or rebus puzzles. These puzzles combine the use of pictures and letters to represent sounds or words. For example the word “face” could be represented with F + an ace from a deck of cards.

In this CE program, you will be given a list of ID-related items that you will need to sort into the correct order. When the ID-related items are in the correct order the pictures will sound out a word or phrase.

Example:

To solve the puzzle sort the antibiotics shown above in the order that they were discovered.

Solution

  • The picture associated with penicillin is [F + ear] which translates to Fear.
  • The picture associated with vancomycin is a knot which translates to Not.
  • The solution to the puzzle is Fear Not.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze infectious diseases data for quality and relevance
